The ginger-infused honey remedy which is presented in this article works effectively against cold and flu, and it soothes the throat at the same time. It is extremely delicious and it has pretty good leftovers. As a matter of fact, it is used in almost every East Asian inspired recipe that needs a touch of sweetness.

Ginger is very potent antioxidant and it is one of the best cures for problems with arthritis. It works amazing against every type of sickness, including air, land, or sea. Furthermore, it protects against colorectal cancer and it cures nausea during pregnancy.

On the other hand, honey is abundant in potent antibacterial properties. It has the ability to sooth sore, itchy, or scratchy throat too. In addition, it contains antioxidants which help fight Alzheimer`s and aging.

Consuming honey half an hour before bedtime reduces the nighttime coughing. Yet another benefit of this amazing ingredient is its ability to stimulate serotonin which the body converts into melatonin. Consequently, it allows you to sleep better.

Moreover, it can build up tolerance to pollen and alleviate mild allergy symptoms. This property is due to the fact that it contains trace amounts of pollen, which in turn encourages the body to produce antibodies to the pollen. As a result, the body produces less histamine, which eventually lessens the allergies.

Ginger-Infused Honey Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of honey
  • 1 ½ inches of fresh ginger root or 2 tablespoons of dried ginger

Tools:

  • A double boiler/ or a heat safe bowl and a pot
  • Sterilized containers with lids ( salad dressing containers or mason jars)
  • Candy thermometer

Instructions:

Put the honey into the top of the double boiler with water at the bottom. Then, peel the ginger, slices it into very thin slices, and add it to the honey. Another option is to simply shred it.

Bring the water to boil and check the honey`s temperature with the candy thermometer. Bring it to a point of 158 degrees and keep it at this heat for ten minutes.

After ten minutes, remove the boiler from heat and let it cool off for another ten minutes. Afterwards, strain the liquid and transfer it into the sterilized containers.

If you decide to slice the ginger, keep the ginger pieces inside, as the honey-glazed ginger is great for an upset stomach.

ADDITIONAL TIPS

Feel free to leave a bit of honey with the sliced ginger root, as it preserves the ginger. The longer you keep it with the ginger, the more infused the ginger becomes. Apart from that, it becomes tastier.

In case you shred the ginger, feel free to keep it as well. It can be used in many recipes, such as quick breads and stir fry.
